Today's wiring systems in modern automotive engineering are strongly influenced by new navigation and safety systems, the interaction of sensors and control units, networked components and extensive communication and entertainment electronics. This naturally also increases the need for corresponding cabling in the vehicle, which also needs to be suitable for high data transmission rates, ideally with the smallest possible space requirement.
Conventional FAKRA connectors, however, require a relatively large amount of space, so that new standard connectors have now been developed for space-saving high-speed data transmission. They are available on the market under the brand names HFM® from Rosenberger or MATE-AX® from TE Connectivity. These connectors, for example, each have four coaxial connectors arranged in a square 2x2 block.
FEINMETALL now offers a tailor-made contacting solution for these very special connectors. The coaxial probes of the series F835 allow a safe and reliable electrical contact for testing the correct wiring In addition, in compliance with the prescribed safety precautions, HV measurements can be carried out between two probes. The four new variants are exactly matched to the connector geometries and are available immediately for the connector types HFM® male and female, as well as MATE-AX® male and female.

With these contact solutions for high-speed FAKRA connectors, FEINMETALL is once again setting new standards in wire harness testing. Corresponding RF coaxial probes for contacting these connectors with radio-frequency signals have also already been developed and are currently in the testing phase. These probes will soon be available on the market.
