Temperature sensors

Optimal contact temperature monitoring

In many contacting tasks, especially in applications with high currents, the temperature development directly at the contact point plays an important role. However, these contact points often offer little space and they are usually difficult to access.

Integrated temperature sensors

A spring-loaded contacting unit in which a temperature sensor is already integrated therefore offers an optimum solution. To make this possible, a spring-loaded temperature sensor must of course be available that is slim enough to be integrated into a contacting unit.

With the new TS series, Feinmetall offers a solution here. The following sensor types can be integrated:

  • PT100
  • PT1000
  • NTC
  • Type K

The spring-loaded temperature sensors have a diameter of only 4.5 mm and can be ordered individually. However, they are also an optional component of FEINMETALL high current contacting systems. For example, in the HC01 high current block or in the coaxial high current pins of the HC04 series, they can be selected as a configuration and thus form part of the wide range of functions of these probes. Used individually, the sensors can also be applied in various other customer applications.

Application example battery cell contacting

Continuous temperature measurement directly at the contact point is becoming increasingly important, especially in the contacting of battery cells, since very high currents are required here and at the same time certain temperatures must not be exceeded. Since heat generation is naturally highest at the contact point, spring-loaded temperature sensors offer a suitable monitoring option here.

A temperature sensor can be integrated both in coaxially constructed contact probes and in contact blocks for extremely high currents. Numerous customer-specific solutions are also developed in this field of application - maximum flexibility is possible.
