Kelvin Probe

A Kelvin Probe is a special Contact Probe for four-wire measurements (Kelvin Measurements) in which current and voltage lines are routed separately. This separation minimizes the influence of line and transition resistance.

This measurement technology enables high-precision resistance measurements, especially in the milliohm and microohm range, and is primarily used for testing small resistances, contact qualities, and current paths.

Kelvin Probes are used to measure small resistances, e.g., in power electronics, Battery Testing, semiconductor testing, or contact quality testing.

The separate routing of current and voltage lines prevents line and contact resistance from distorting the measurement result. This enables highly accurate resistance measurements.

Unlike standard Contact Probes, a Kelvin Probe has two separate contact paths for current and voltage measurement. This design reduces the influence of line and contact resistance and enables significantly more accurate measurement results, especially with very low resistances.
