Contact Probe

A Contact Probe, also known as a Spring Contact Probe or Pogo Pin, is an electromechanical component used to establish a temporary electrical contact between two contact points. It is used in electronic testing to establish a connection between the test system and test points on printed circuit boards.

Contact probes consist of a barrel, a movable plunger, and an integrated spring that generates a defined contact force. This design enables reproducible contact with high cycle durability.

Depending on the application, Contact Probes are available in various designs, spring forces, and tip styles and are components of Test Fixtures and test systems.

FAQ

Contact Probes are inserted into holes or Receptacles in the Test Fixture and establish a connection to the circuit board upon contact.

A contact probe consists of a Barrel (Package), a Plunger, and a Spring, which together enable mechanical and electrical contact.

Wear can lead to increased contact resistance, poorer contact, and a shorter Lifetime.
