Enig Finish
The Enig Finish is a chemically deposited PCB surface consisting of a nickel layer with a thin gold coating.
It is characterized by excellent solderability, a flat surface, and reliable corrosion protection, and is frequently used in fine-pitch applications and high-quality electronic assemblies.
In test technology, the Enig Finish enables stable and reproducible contacting, but places specific requirements on Contact Probes regarding tip style and contact force.
FAQ
The flat surface enables precise placement and reliable contact even with very small structures and tight pitch dimensions.
Contact probes must have a suitable tip style, plating, and contact force to reliably penetrate the OSP layer.
Compared to other surfaces, the requirements for contacting are lower; however, the contact force and tip style must still be appropriately designed.
