Flying Probe Testing

The Flying Probe Test is a testing method for the electrical testing of printed circuit boards in which movable test probes sequentially contact individual test points. Unlike adapter-based tests, no dedicated Test Fixture is required.

The Flying Probe Test is particularly suitable for prototypes, small-volume production, and applications with frequent layout changes, as it is highly adaptable and incurs low setup costs.

FAQ

Typical tests include continuity tests, short-circuit tests, resistance measurements, capacitance measurements, and simple Functional Tests.

Especially for prototypes, pre-production series, and small series where a fixed Test Fixture is not economically viable.

ICT uses a fixed Test Fixture, while the Flying Probe Test contacts test points in a mobile and sequential manner.
