In-Circuit Test (ICT)

The In-Circuit Test (ICT) is an electrical testing method used to inspect printed circuit boards (PCBs). In this PCB test, individual circuit areas on an assembly are checked via defined test points. This allows component values, polarities, short circuits, and open circuits to be reliably detected.

ICT is frequently used in electronics manufacturing to identify defects early on. Contact is typically established via Test Fixtures and Contact Probes that precisely contact the test points on the printed circuit board.

FAQ

Component values, short circuits, open connections, polarities, and basic electrical properties of individual circuit components.

The ICT checks individual circuit areas and component values, while the Functional Test checks the entire assembly under real operating conditions.

The ICT is usually used after the circuit board has been assembled and soldered in order to detect errors early on before the Functional Test.
